So if you’ve read the news/ checked the weather/ looked outside your window, you probably noticed its been a bit wet this week in Denver. And by a bit wet I mean it’s a freaking monsoon out there.
Normally I wouldn’t mind running in a little rain, its refreshing, but this is not a little rain – we’re talking like people rafting down the isles in Target. My training has slacked a little this week, which makes me feel guilty. So here’s my acknowledgement for my slacker of a week. Oh and this showed up at work this week…probably didn’t help.
Monday- Rainy and imminent thunder over the mountains. I had a 4.5 miler on the schedule, and luckily my running group meets on Monday otherwise I probably wouldn’t have been a baby about the rain and cold. I got 5 miles in with my ladies and I’m very glad I did it.
Tuesday-pouring rain at 5:15am when I woke up, so I went back to sleep for an hour and told myself it would be nicer out after work. Still raining when I left work, but luckily just Stretch and Strength was on the schedule. I foam rolled, stretched and did some pilates.
Wednesday- pouring rain..again. 8 x 400 at 5K pace on the schedule. Jonah had the day off so after I got out of work we decided to get PF Chang’s takeout and watch Lost on Netflix.
The rain cleared up a bit at about 7:30pm, but by that time I was stuffed full of Chinese magic food and totally on the verge of a Netflix binge…so I did notta. fail. lazy bones.
Thursday- what a surprise, MORE RAIN! 3 miles and strength on the runner’s menu. I felt really bad about not doing anything yesterday so I made myself go to the gym to use the treadmill and lift weights. Let me just say this, I HATE the treadmill. Those were the worst 3 miles ever. Thank goodness it was only 3 miles because I’m pretty sure I was just oozing “unhappy runner vibes” all up in that gym. But I got those miles in and did some weight training. We’ll call that a mild success.
I really hope the rain clears up for this weekend, I have a 4 miler at pace and 9 miles.
What about you? Has weather affected your training?
